In celebration of Women’s Day, FemTech India is spotlighting female trailblazers from our global community. Throughout March, we’re sharing the stories of inspiring women from diverse backgrounds who are driving innovation in FemTech and beyond—amplifying their voices and contributions to the industry.
Dr. Sukhpreet’s journey from a seasoned medical professional to a pioneering FemTech entrepreneur is a testament to her dedication to women’s health. With an extensive background in obstetrics and gynecology, infertility, and public health, she has always been at the forefront of addressing critical gaps in healthcare. However, it was her own experience navigating menopause—and witnessing firsthand the lack of accessible, evidence-based support—that led her to enter the FemTech space.
Her journey from a doctor to a FemTech entrepreneur is not just about innovation; it’s about reshaping the narrative around menopause and ensuring that every woman receives the support, care, and knowledge she deserves.
In this exclusive interview with FemTech India, she shares her experiences on how she evolved from being a medical professional, to now a FemTech entrepreneur and her insights on the market, industry.
Transforming Women’s Health Through Holistic Menopause Care
Sukhpreet has built a distinguished career in women’s health, beginning with her medical training at KEM Hospital, Mumbai—one of India’s most prestigious institutions—where she earned her MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology. With a specialization in infertility and IVF, she successfully led her own fertility center for several years, gaining extensive expertise in reproductive health.
Over time, her passion for women’s health expanded beyond clinical practice, leading her to explore broader, systemic challenges in the field. Recognizing that medical interventions alone were not enough, she pursued a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, which she completed in 2022. This shift in focus allowed her to examine how lifestyle, nutrition, and societal influences play a critical role in women’s well-being—factors often overlooked in conventional medical settings.
After relocating to Canada in 2022, Dr. Sukhpreet further advanced her expertise by becoming a Registered Health & Nutrition Counselor. This training deepened her understanding of holistic health, particularly for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Her own experience with menopause revealed a significant gap in accessible, evidence-based care, even for medical professionals like herself. This realization fueled her commitment to ensuring that all women have access to comprehensive, unbiased support during this pivotal stage of life.
Determined to bridge this gap, she founded MenopauseWize, a platform dedicated to ethical, evidence-based, and holistic menopause care. Through this initiative, Sukhpreet aims to dispel misinformation, provide trusted resources, and empower women to not only manage menopause but to thrive through it.
From Products to Platforms: The Shift Toward Holistic FemTech
“I didn’t set out to enter FemTech—it was a necessary step to address the massive gap in evidence-based menopause care.” Says Dr Sukhpreet.
According to her –
Menopause remains one of the most neglected areas of women’s health, particularly in India, where stigma and misinformation overshadow evidence-based care. With 401 million menopausal women, the lack of proper education and support presents a looming public health crisis, increasing risks of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and mental health struggles.
Despite its widespread impact, menopause is poorly understood and often dismissed. Many women receive inadequate care, pushed toward unproven solutions instead of holistic, science-backed interventions. A multidisciplinary approach integrating gynecology, endocrinology, cardiology, and lifestyle medicine is essential—yet largely absent from traditional healthcare.
FemTech is stepping in to bridge this gap, providing digital solutions, education, and teleconsultations to expand access to reliable care. However, the industry faces challenges, including skepticism from medical professionals, investor hesitancy, and the wellness industry’s profit-driven misinformation. Cultural stigma further limits outreach and engagement.
Despite these barriers, FemTech has the potential to revolutionize menopause care, ensuring women receive ethical, evidence-based support to not just manage but thrive through this life stage.
Cutting Through Misinformation: A New Era in Menopause Care
Though MenopauseWize is just over a year old, its foundation has been decades in the making, shaped by extensive experience in women’s health, public health, and medical education. At its core, the platform is a response to the misinformation and commercial exploitation that dominate the menopause industry. From unproven supplements to profit-driven wellness trends, many solutions prioritize sales over science, leaving women with inadequate care and little access to evidence-based support.
“Menopause is not just a gynecological issue—it requires a multidisciplinary approach integrating cardiology, endocrinology, mental health, bone health, and lifestyle medicine”.
Yet, most medical professionals receive minimal training in menopause care, creating a significant gap in treatment. Cultural stigma further exacerbates the issue, discouraging women from seeking help and reinforcing the belief that menopause is something to endure rather than manage.
MenopauseWize challenges these narratives, advocating for ethical, science-backed, and holistic care. By prioritizing education, accessibility, and expert-driven solutions, the platform aims to shift menopause care away from commercialized quick fixes and toward a truly transformative, patient-centered approach.
MenopauseWize: Science-Backed, Ethical Menopause Care
Speaking about what the business does, she shares her insights:
MenopauseWize is committed to providing ethical, evidence-based, and holistic menopause care. Offering teleconsultations that go beyond gynecology, the platform integrates mental health, cardiovascular risk, bone health, and overall well-being into a comprehensive approach. Structured educational courses empower women with research-backed knowledge, while workshops and events foster open conversations and community engagement.
Through social media and a dedicated podcast, MenopauseWize serves as a trusted space for accurate menopause information. The platform also supports healthcare providers with continuing medical education, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration with experts in cardiology, endocrinology, and integrative medicine. Unlike many menopause-focused ventures driven by product sales, MenopauseWize prioritizes unbiased education and ethical guidance—ensuring women receive the tools and support they need to make informed health decisions, free from commercial influence.
The way forward:
According to Dr. Sukhpreet, the transformation of FemTech begins with acknowledging that there is no quick fix for health—and committing not to sell one. Rather than prioritizing profit-driven narratives, the industry should harness technology to enhance accessibility, deliver personalized care, and integrate multidisciplinary solutions. The future of women’s health lies not in isolated, commercialized products, but in comprehensive, evidence-based ecosystems that provide meaningful support at every stage of life.
